    Macbook Air 的第一百天

    今天是我拥有 Macbook Air 的第一百天。Air 现在是市场上最薄的笔记本。

    我好喜欢这个超薄笔记本电脑因为很方便随身能用。站着用，躺着用，传来传去用，在移动的时候都能轻轻松松的用，等等。因为这台电脑又薄又轻，随身随地都可以用的好处，不限制我的灵感或我的想象力，让我自然又轻松的发挥我的创意。

    其实这样的电脑我已经等了两年，终于让我等到我理想的笔记本电脑了。

    Still deciding to buy Macbook Air laptop or to keep my MacbookPro (MBP). The Air and MBP are about the same price point but Air sacifices performance for ultraportability. Lot of I/O ports are omitted especially firewire which is hallmark of Apple tradition.

    I read a lot of reviews and benchmark reports and Macbook Air is a better than above average machine in the ultraportable market.

    I am still making my decision of owning this sexy machine.

    New iPhone Docking

    I got myself a new iPhone. Flown in from New York and I picked up in the airport. It was a cool iPod but a sucky phone. The phone features were so handicapped.

    I upgraded the new iPhone firmware to 1.1.1 and hacked it. It was a perfect hack and I got my chinese input working. The killer app was the full blown Safari browser. I can surf the World Wide Web on the iPhone with the same experience a desktop computer browser.

    This iPhone was almost an innovative must-have gadget until I tried out the stupid phone functions. I was greatly disappointed with it. I could not edit and call a contact, which was an important function to us, people that travel between countries.

    For the time being, I would stick to my SonyEricsson K800i. and my third generation iPod.

  • Get More RAM The Merrier

    Get More RAM For Your Mac
    Upgraded my Macbook Pro memory from 1.5GB to 3GB, Doing so, I shifted the bottleneck to the harddisk. My Mac was now running at it best. When I had 1.5GB of memory, my Mac could only open about four to five heavy duty applications like Adobe Photoshop before it lagged my machine. Now with 3GB of RAM, I could open more than ten applications as intensive as Photoshop and database driven application like iPhoto and iWeb.

    Increasing my RAM also doubled my machine performance. Everything was so much faster and smoother except sometimes when it had to write huge swap files to the harddisk. The magic of 3GB RAM also made my Windows in Parallels ran seamlessly and faster without stressing the swap disk like before.

    I was glad with my RAM investment. Worth every penny spent.

    Talking about memory, RAM module for Mac, I would recommend to use Crucial module. Please avoid Kingston brand. Kingston module would not run well on Mac. Crucial was the recommendation in our workshop.

    One of the best military dramas I had watched so far. It had been a long time since I watched a decent story based on present military life and modern warfare.

    Waiting for the third season.

  • My HBH-DS980 Bluetooth Headset

    HBH-DS980 Bluetooth Headset

    Finally I was wearing this lanyard style headset around my neck. I had been hesitating own this since last year.

    This headset was good but I still could not access my address book through bluetooth. The sound quality was excellent because it support A2DP and work well on all my SonyEricsson phones.

    Interestingly the package said, it would not support chinese characters on the OLED but I managed to see chinese words on the display when I had incoming call. However I was not able to see chinese words when i made outgoing call.

  • So Say We All

    Battlestar Galactica, So Say We All

    I really enjoyed watching Battlestar Galactica. The story is good, scenes were captivating and I was so addicted, after the first two episodes, I went sleepless and chase episodes after episodes.

    The drama was more like a war show but added with lot of politics and unromantic romance. I liked everything about the show except a few stupid plots in the show like, the stupid religious voodoo beliefs in the Gods of Kobol and how it would led them to find earth.

    Second stupid plot in the show was those love scenes in the first season. Those scenes were more like blue flim foreplays than love scenes.

    Thirdly was the screw-up politics on the fleet and soldiers kept breaking the chain of command. Adding these nonsense made the show messy and demonstrate how weak the fleet was. Interestingly the colonies fought among themselves in politics rather than in one heart fighting the Cylon.

    Surprisingly, the show did not have much battle scenes in the space, like Vipers versus Cylon spacecrafts dogfight. The whole show was more about politics than wars in space.

    Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching the series. So say we all?

  • Initial D: Starts Your TV

    Initial D, Drifting Scene

    You got to watch Initial D with Dolby 5.1. Watching the cars racing with the 5.1 sound and DVD-9 encoding, I felt liked I was watching the live race. The engine sounds were so real when the engines started and the cars drifted.

    Watching the series really stirred me up to run my own workshop with my buddy and mod our own cars and rules the streets. Seem like a far away dream, but it was not. For me, just a matter of commitment.

  • More Than Meets The Eyes

    With great disappointment after watching Michael Bay’s Transformer. Ahhh… I should say Michael Bay’s transformable robots… I decided to go to my favourite DVD shop and bought the Transformer G1 cartoon and watched to my heart contented.

    Now I felt like I had watched the Transformer, heard the original music “Transformer… more than meets the eyes… robots in disguise…” and felt the authenticity of transformer characters and their robotic behaviours.

    I felt good after watching all four seasons, total of 98 episodes.

  • My Apple TV

    My Apple TV
    Got myself a AppleTV. Not really impressive with it. Would prefer to buy a Nintendo Wii for my entertainment in the living room.

    I was able to access YouTube and iTunes Store but was not able to watch the videos and movie trailers respectively. The Apple support site said if I was using a proxy server, I would not be able to stream video to my AppleTV. Will workaround this problem when i feel like it.

    I wished I could use my AppleTV as an extension storage for my iTunes than syncing. In that way I could free up more storage space on my Macbook Pro.

    I was happy with the screensaver, I could select and displayed photos from my iPhoto on my TV

    Since I bought this device, I might as well made full use of it then whining over it shortfalls.
