  • We, The Willing

Many friends had asked me how come I had the zeal, the strength, to do extraordinary things and explore the unknown. Many people portrayed me as a daring person, an entrepreneur, adventurous guy, trill seeker, etc.

Many did not know how much I had sacrificed to come this far.

All summed up in this statement below I came across fifteen years ago.

    We, the willing,
    led by the unknowing,
    are doing the impossible,
    for the ungrateful.

    We have done so much
    for so long,
    with so little,
    we are qualified
    to do anything,
    with nothing.

  • A Premier To Terrorise Singapore (Part 1 of 2)

In conjunction with the CommunicAsia 2006, our Media Development Authority launched another new IT masterplan, pushing Singapore to another higher level of world class infocomm. It was great to hear our government bla bla bla on all these crappy great ideas and made us on the world spotlight again.

Yes, we singaporean were knowledge-based workers. We could multitask, cross-train, bilingual, IT literate, etc. We singaporean were one of the best breeds of the human race. But we had a reset button somewhere. If somebody did a Ctrl-Alt-Del, we would be like Microsoft Windows, restarted and maybe take a minute to startup again. Worst still, we might not have the password to login after restart.

Ok, so you said, we have gurkas guarding the reset button. Fine but having gurkas would not prevent a ‘blue screen of death’ that invoked by the user himself, that could happen anywhere in our little island.

What was the reset button I was talking about? The reset was electronic. All we had to do was to EMP the targeted place. Using EMP device sounded too bombastic? Actually we had a easier way to do it, just turned off the switch. Think creative and you would know how to power off the building of ICA at the flip of your finger.

A frequency jammer could had similar damaged effects as EMP. We need not to be a PhD in computer to figure out how our ERP (Electronic Road Pricing) gantry worked and what frequency it used. During my younger days, I had accidentally experimented how to pass the gantry for free.

To do the ‘blue screen’ was much easier than the reset. To prove my point, our recent case, money stolen from our DBS Bank ATM machine. If your mind was thinking now, how about having a surprise blackout party at national stadium for this year National Day Parade? I would not elaborate on it. Use your brain juice and you could come out with more innovative ideas better than stealing from ATM machine.

Another good place to strike was at subway station. Those senior citizens wearing security uniform, with flabby tummies, patrolling the station. Could they catch up with the suspect? And those wearing thick glasses, I wondered what were they trying to spot? Could they recognise clearly the look of a suspect because of their short-sightedness.

Think again, what is terrorism? Are you really safe from a domestic terrorist?

  • Quotes From LOTR: The Two Towers

    Quotes From The Two Towers

Theoden: So much death. What can men do against such reckless hate?

Aragorn: Ride out with me. Ride out and meet them.

    Theoden: For death and glory.

Aragorn: For Rohan. For your people.

Theoden: The Horn of Helm Hammerhand will sound in the deep, one last time!

Theoden: The crops can be re-sown, the homes re-built. Within these walls… we will outlast them.

Aragorn: They do not come to destroy Rohan’s crops or villages. They come to destroy its people. Down to the last child.

Theoden: What will you have me do? Look at my men. Their courage hangs by a thread.

Haldir: I bring word from Lord Elrond of Rivendell. An Alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance.

Aragorn: Mae govannen, Haldir. You are most welcome.

Haldir: We are proud to fight alongside Men once more.

Faramir: I think at last we understand one another, Frodo Baggins.

Madril: You know the laws of our country – the laws of your father. If you let them go your life will be forfeit.

Faramir: Then it is forfeit. Release them.

Saruman: A new power is rising. Its victory is at hand. This night the land will be stained with the blood of Rohan. March to Helm’s Deep. Leave none alive. To war!

    (Dialogue in Elvish)

Legolas: Look at them. They’re frightened. You can see it in their eyes.

Legolas: And they should be. Three hundred… against ten thousand!

Aragorn: They have a better chance defending themselves here than at Edoras…

    Legolas: Aragorn

Legolas: They cannot win this fight. They are all going to die!

Aragorn: Then I shall die as one of them!

All will be sacrificed… All will be lost… Unless all unite against evil. (Trailer)

  • Quotes From Black Hawk Down

    Blackhawk Down Poster

Hoot: When I get home people will ask me, “Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? Why? You some war junkie?” You know what I’ll say? I won’t say a goddamn word. Why? They won’t understand. They won’t understand why we do it. They won’t understand that it’s about the men next to you, and that’s it. That’s all it is.

Hoot: Y’know what I think? Don’t really matter what I think. Once that first bullet goes past your head, politics and all that shit just goes right out the window.

Hoot: Sergeant, you got your men this far. You did it right today. Now you gotta start thinking about getting them out of here.

Eversmann: Nobody asks to be a hero, it just sometimes turns out that way.

Struecker: No one gets left behind, you know that.

  • My Friend, Davin

    My Friend, Davin

Find A Friend, Davin (Primary school classmate)

My friend Davin. The guy on the right with the tongue sticking out and without the cap. He was my primary school classmate. We used to take school bus to school everyday and during our journey, we would play chess. We liked to play animal chess, english chess and chinese chese. And this was how we got through our boring time in the bus. He was my best companion during my primary school days. We kept each other entertained during boring time in school.

This friend of mine did not speak at all until he was in secondary school. If he spoke, it would be very very soft and you could hardly heard him. Not even when teachers asked him questions. After PSLE, three years later, we met again and this time he spoke to me. This was the first time I heard him calling my name. I was overjoyed because I was expecting he would show me his sign language to communicate with him.

We met a few times during the period and kept in contact through email. After “O” Level, we were separated again. I wondered how was he now.

  • Chinese Tea Venture Update

My two-month stay in Singapore was not fruitful. One of the reasons I stayed longer in Singapore was to find the right personnel to form my core team to jumpstart the chinese tea business.

This short trip here, almost everyday, I met up with many old friends and partners trying to link the right person to the right portfolio. So far I have not mix and match to form the right team yet. I need more time to scout for the team.

I will jumpstart the business once I have everything is in my accordance.

  • Ten Dollars Blowjob, Thirty Dollars Sex

After 36 hours of restless sleepless nights, I finally when home to rest. Late in the night, dark on the street, I was on my way home, walking up the slope to where I stayed. A girl suddenly appeared out of nowhere and said hello to me and start conversing with me. I stopped the conversation, curiously responded, “Do I know you?”

After some dialogues with her, she popped the question, “I give you blowjob for ten dollars.” I was freaked out and rejected her on the spot. I doubled my pace and suddenly she was nowhere to be found.

Then after a good bath and a short rest, I went out for supper. Walking down the slope again my mind still analysing on the ten dollars blowjob. Something amiss! Her reason given to me for doing that was to raise some money to return home.

After supper I walked home and was approached by another girl. thirty dollars for sex, including massage. I was shocked again. Now I wanted to know how this curiosity gonna kill the cat! I was not really interested to have sex but to find out what could thirty dollars offered?

For ten nanoseconds, my logical mind was computing what was going on here. Was it a trap? Would I be kidnapped? Would I be robbed? Another ten nanos I convinced myself I had nothing much too lose except my belongings with me. Another five nanos I decided to let curiosity killed me and I went with her.

She took me to a dark lane, darker and darker until I could not see my own hand in front of my eyes. I wanted to turn back but my mobile phone rang and I answered it and unconsciously I walked along with her.

The place was pitch dark and the room was only the lighted place. She quickly striped herself naked and hurried me to get on to the bed. I undressed and put my clothing on the table beside the door and asked was the door locked because I did not feel it safe. Her reply was locked and I took her words.

I followed her tempo and got into the bed. I laid on my chest and she sat on my butt and gave me a nice warm back massage. The rub was good and we chatted. When I almost dozed off she said to me she was going out to take some water and she dressed up and left.

After a while, my mind suddenly got alerted and I jumped up and checked my belongings. Too late! I knew I was robbed.

As I recalled, every move she made was precise. the lightbulb, the bed, everything was positioned well to conceal her partner from stealing my belongings.

If I had not been sleepless for the past few days, I could have figured out that there was a syndicate operating in my neighbourhood. That day I was too restless.

What an experience! Come to think of it, really cool to encounter such. Glad I was safe.

  • Dead in My Kitchen

If you had visited my place and you felt that you had been here before then most probably you had watch our local drama True Files. My place had been used to film True Files a few times. The most prominent scene was the mocked up of a dead man died in my kitchen and blood all over the floor.

I did not expect my humble home could be used as a place for shooting. Now I was resting on my oriental style furniture posting this blog. And this furniture was also aired on TV too.

  • What Is Sparse Image?

    What Is Sparse Image?

    Sparse Image Screenshot

Recently I updated my Carbon Copy Cloner to version 3.0-b5. When cloning, there was a new option to clone a harddisk to a sparse image.

So what is a sparse image?

A sparse image is a file that can be mounted like any other disk, and the disk size will grow as you put more data in it. It is a dynamic disk image. It will reduce in size if data are taken out of the image.

A dmg image is another kind of disk image. It is a fixed size image and can be either read-only or read-write. If you created the image size 10GB, it will be fixed at 10GB, even if you only store 10MB of data. A .dmg is not dynamic but a fixed size image.

  • Take Time To Rest

There were three wood-cutters. Matthew, Mark and Luke.

Matthew was a hardworking cutter who worked day and night. On the other hand, Mark worked for an hour and rested for ten minutes. Luke who was the laziest worked for ten minutes and took a break of ten minutes.

At the end of the day, they gathered together and see who had the most woods. Mark had the most woods after calculation.

Matthew: ”Why I worked so hard and so many hours than you and yet you had more woods than me?”

Mark: ”During my rest, I sharpened my axe”

After a year of resting, I recovered from my mental breakdown. Now I was more acute then I was before. Ever since I started joining the workforce and taking the responsibility of adulthood, life was getting weary as years went by. Sitting down and looking back my past achievements, it was a relieve that I came this far but not worth the sacrifice i had made to achieve what I had today.

During my sabbath year, I really rested my whole being. I took my time to renew my life, my missions, my destiny, etc. I took the time to evaluate my goals I had set ten years ago and set new goals for my next decade. My body was weak and I took the time to get back my health by losing weight, keeping fit and healthy diet. Now my body was in good condition again to accept new challenges in life.

My Sabbath year was ending soon and my whole being was energized again. Now, time for me to step out, step up, and conquer the world again.

So when was the last time you took a good break?
