  • So Say We All

Battlestar Galactica, So Say We All

I really enjoyed watching Battlestar Galactica. The story is good, scenes were captivating and I was so addicted, after the first two episodes, I went sleepless and chase episodes after episodes.

The drama was more like a war show but added with lot of politics and unromantic romance. I liked everything about the show except a few stupid plots in the show like, the stupid religious voodoo beliefs in the Gods of Kobol and how it would led them to find earth.

Second stupid plot in the show was those love scenes in the first season. Those scenes were more like blue flim foreplays than love scenes.

Thirdly was the screw-up politics on the fleet and soldiers kept breaking the chain of command. Adding these nonsense made the show messy and demonstrate how weak the fleet was. Interestingly the colonies fought among themselves in politics rather than in one heart fighting the Cylon.

Surprisingly, the show did not have much battle scenes in the space, like Vipers versus Cylon spacecrafts dogfight. The whole show was more about politics than wars in space.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching the series. So say we all?

  • Initial D: Starts Your TV

    Initial D, Drifting Scene

You got to watch Initial D with Dolby 5.1. Watching the cars racing with the 5.1 sound and DVD-9 encoding, I felt liked I was watching the live race. The engine sounds were so real when the engines started and the cars drifted.

Watching the series really stirred me up to run my own workshop with my buddy and mod our own cars and rules the streets. Seem like a far away dream, but it was not. For me, just a matter of commitment.

  • More Than Meets The Eyes

With great disappointment after watching Michael Bay’s Transformer. Ahhh… I should say Michael Bay’s transformable robots… I decided to go to my favourite DVD shop and bought the Transformer G1 cartoon and watched to my heart contented.

Now I felt like I had watched the Transformer, heard the original music “Transformer… more than meets the eyes… robots in disguise…” and felt the authenticity of transformer characters and their robotic behaviours.

I felt good after watching all four seasons, total of 98 episodes.

  • My Apple TV

    My Apple TV
Got myself a AppleTV. Not really impressive with it. Would prefer to buy a Nintendo Wii for my entertainment in the living room.

I was able to access YouTube and iTunes Store but was not able to watch the videos and movie trailers respectively. The Apple support site said if I was using a proxy server, I would not be able to stream video to my AppleTV. Will workaround this problem when i feel like it.

I wished I could use my AppleTV as an extension storage for my iTunes than syncing. In that way I could free up more storage space on my Macbook Pro.

I was happy with the screensaver, I could select and displayed photos from my iPhoto on my TV

Since I bought this device, I might as well made full use of it then whining over it shortfalls.

  • Rush Hour Shopping

What To Do In Hong Kong - Rush Hour Shopping
What to do in Hong Kong? Went to Hong Kong for a rush hour shopping. It was a rushing fun, shopping for my AppleTV and accessories. Streets after streets, shops after shops, I came across a demo set Sony Photo Printer selling cheap, I bought it.

  • Transformable Robots

Transformers Movie Poster - Transformers Robots In Disguise

I watched the Transformer movie four times and I did not get the feel of the origin. This Michael Bay’s Transformer was really a big disappointment for me. So was his movie Pearl Harbour.

The most disappointment of all, there was no original transformer soundtrack in the movie, not at all. Stupid of me to to even expect a techno or remix.

In the movie, the character of the Autobot leader, Optimus Prime greatly differ from the origin. So was the character of Megatron, the Decepticon leader. When the transformers transformed, the transforming sound was also not the same form the origin and that made the transformer so fake, like pirated stuffs.

In the movie, lot of main characters were missing from the beginning especially from the Decepticon. To make it more like the transformer rather than other sci-fi movie, the Decepticon main characters only appeared almost at the end. I find this damn lame.

Another icon of the Transformer was Starscream always trying to lead the Decepticon was missing. The main human characters in the original Transformer was father and son, not boyfriend with sporty Bumble Bee flirting with babe.

When you watched Resident Evil, you could feel the origin of the video game. Mission Impossible kept the theme song and icon stunts from the origin.

When I watch this movie again, I would not consider as a Transformer movie. I would treat it like another robot show fighting to save the world.

My verdict, it was a movie about transformable robots and not Transformers. What a transformers robots in disguise.

  • What Is PRAM?

    MagSafe connecting to Macbook Pro
PRAM stands for Parameter RAM. PRAM stores certain system and device settings in a location that The Mac OS can access quickly. The information is store in a small area of non-volatile RAM (NVRAM).

What does PRAM stores? Zapping your PRAM? How to do it? Exactly which settings are stored in the computer’s PRAM varies depending on the type of computer as well as the types of devices and drives connected to the computer.

Some information stored in PRAM includes:
    • Display and video settings such as refresh rate, screen resolution, number of colors
    • Time zone setting
    • Startup volume choice
    • Speaker volume
    • Recent kernel panic information, if any
    • DVD region setting

Note: Mac OS X stores your preselected DVD region choice in PRAM for easy access. Resetting PRAM does not allow you to change the DVD region.

Unlike prior versions of the Mac OS, Mac OS X does not store network settings in PRAM. If you experience a network issue, resetting PRAM will not help.

If PRAM is reset, you may need to verify your time zone, startup volume, and volume settings using System Preferences. Certain firmware updates may reset PRAM as a normal part of their installation process.

When to use PRAM? There are times when the computer faces some problems. Instead of rushing the computer to the service centre, you may try these resuscitation methods for the computer. The few problems that PRAM could help,

    1. Computer has no startup chime, and the sleep light may or may not be turned on. You can still hear the computer has something running inside, which means there is power in the computer.

    2. Screen is distorted or flickering, or resolution of the screen is not right.

    3. External devices are not able to be detected.

Usually PRAM is ran for 3 cycles, which means you hold the 4 keys simultaneously (Command, Option, P, and R) until you hear 3 startup chimes. Another thing that we should note is that zapping PRAM should not be used unnecessarily.

When ever the PRAM is used, zapping PRAM, you will reset your clock setting to 1970. And this will disrupt the proper flow of power to into the computer. If PRAM does not solve the problem, do not keep trying too many times, it is really time to send the computer for servicing.

  • Pretty One More Year

Sweet Girl And Her Pictures Of Birthday Cakes

Another sweet girl friend of mine. She was working night shift the day before her birthday. Exactly passed midnight she received my birthday greeting SMS. She was happy and surprised I was the first one to greet her with my greeting at the very first second of her birthday.

Then I invited her and her friends over to my place after she off from work. I opened the door and invited her in and she was surprised to see her favourite chocolate birthday cake on the table with candles lighted up for her. To make the mini-party complete, I strummed the guitar and sang her the birthday song.

  • My Sony Ericsson S500c

My Sony Ericsson S500c lighted up!

My SE K800i suddenly cannot powered up after I changed the battery. I was disappointed and desperate for a mobile phone and I bought my Sony Ericsson S500c. As I explored the phone, I realised this was a lady-killer phone. Using this phone made me popular among the ladies.

This phone worked with iSync but I had to buy the plugin from a third-party vendor. The music playback on the speaker was better than the K800i. The OS performed faster and smoother than K800i too. This phone also support PictBridge and came with 512MB Sony M2 memory card.

However the next day, I got the power up problem of my K800i fixed and now it was working fine.
